Design Philosophy
Design is about observing, listening, understanding, solving problems and provides desirability, to develop a vision for the client or a company and guide them to a future not just provide them with a short term answer. Design projects are a complex tangle of processes, markets, commercial reality and the most complex of all; the people we interact with, how we collaborate, influence and ‘sell’ the concept not only to our fellow designers but our marketing teams, our management team and finally the consumer and the experiential expectation. Creating the idea is one aspect of design, getting the rest of the team on board is the other.
Methven Design
We have a great technology in Satinjet, a unique showering platform from which we can develop and translate into our future design program. Our design program focuses not only on technically brilliant products but products of desirability and sophistication, products that fit with the various needs of our customers.

Simon Coley, Powershop |
|
 |
Any part of the Powershop experience that a customer or potential customer can see (or hear) is Simon's responsibility. This extends across the entire customer lifecycle, including above-the-line campaign management, online acqusition, Powershop public website, and Powershop application look and feel and usability. Simon has extensive experience in visual communication, online product design & development and sales and marketing. Simon began his career in the design and advertising industry in NZ before a long stint in London where he ran his own design firm, was an establishing member of the early Silicon Valley internet consultancy, Viant in Europe and was appointed Creative Director for the global interactive marketing firm Agency.com. Back in New Zealand Simon helped NZTE to develop Better by Design as it's founding Creative Director and then went on to work with Geoff Ross to sell 42 Below vodka to the world. The promise of working on projects that would revolutionise the energy industry enticed him to come and work with Meridian Energy in 2007. Simon's introduction to Powershop was a fortunate accident. Simon was working on other strategic projects at Meridian and an overflow at the old offices saw him "temporarily" occupying a desk at the Powershop office. Through a process of osmosis Simon soon took up a core role of the Powershop management team as Creative Director come Head of Sales and Marketing.
