DINZ Designers Speak - Katie Taylor - Designers losing discipline
Designer: Katie Taylor, Greenspace, London
Talk title: Designers losing discipline
Sound bite: One studio. Blurred boundaries. The creative consequences.
Katie Taylor trained in Wellington at what is now Massey University’s College of Creative Arts. During this period the school maintained a strong association with the Basel School of Design and a lecturer exchange programme ensured a steady stream of international ex-Basel practitioners coming to the school including Wolfgang Weingart in the early 90’s. Katie has worked at small boutique design agencies throughout New Zealand, the Middle East and London and has been a guest lecturer at the Basel School of Design. Since leaving Basel in 2003 she has worked at many renowned London studios including UNA Designers, Moving Brands, Landor and BB/Saunders, picking up plenty of international awards along the way. Her work has a brand focus which she finds provides the greatest flexibility and a constant array of stimulating creative challenges. She has worked for global superbrands such as BP and Nokia and specialist brands such as Bournemouth University and Cred Jewellery. Katie is currently Creative Director at Greenspace in London where she leads the studio in diverse 2D and 3D projects.
