I graduated from Wellington Polytechnic's Visual Communication Design course in 1986, and spent my first nine years designing in Wellington and London. Since opening my own studio in 1995, my projects have included a mix of exhibition and book design, arts-related projects, corporate branding and design, and working with typography in public spaces, architecture and the landscape. My book and exhibition design, and other arts-related work, is a consequence of working closely with author and content, mixed with a strong appreciation for the written word and the photographic image, and their respective meanings. I bring to my corporate work this same philosophy, where my response as a typographer and designer is shaped by content and meaning, and a relationship based on mutual trust and respect. I work with people who are passionate about what they do and are supportive of good ideas and thinking. This approach results in work that is intuitively resolved at a high creative and professional level.
