About Dan Khan

Dan started NetProfess Ltd, an Auckland-based web site design and online strategy company, 2 years ago after previously running similar ventures in the UK. He has a Masters Degree in Software Engineering and over 10 years of international experience in the web industry working with local NZ businesses and running successful international dotcoms.

He's designed and built web sites of all sizes from small business web sites to high-traffic web sites used worldwide by millions of people - he was a key part of Europe's most successful online public group communication system sold to UK ISP, Freeserve Plc, for £60m.

Dan is active in educating and advancing the web design industry here in New Zealand, having recently helped establish a local developer-community group with an active network of over 200 developers. He has published technical articles and presentations on web applications and scalablility; he lectures on these topics at a number of private tertiary institutes in Auckland, both for students, and in a workshop format for tutors from around the country; and he is a member of the NatColl Curriculum Advisory Board assisting that institute in assembling courses relevant to industry.

The creative process he developed at NetProfess focuses on a customer-centred approach to web design: from creating accessible and usable designs; identifying and designing for the correct audiences; designing an intuitive, navigable site structure (sitemaps, navigation and interface design), all the way through to designing the interaction of the underlying software components! Design is actively promoted to our customers throughout our creative process.
