About Michael Freeman

In 1996, Michael founded Designz Limited after 14 years professional design experience in both product and graphic design, having completed a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Industrial Design at the University of Illinois, USA and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. As a professional designer Michael has both corporate and consultancy experience, both internationally and locally. His early career was spent working for Digital Equipment Corporation in Boston, Massachusetts, USA after which he was responsible for establishing a Design Centre in Reading, England and became the European Design Group manager. Responsibilities included being the technical leader and focal point for all industrial design on all European products, and supporting all product development in engineering and manufacturing locations across Europe including: France, Germany, Ireland, Scotland, England, Sweden, Switzerland, as well as the United States and OEM's in Japan, Italy and Germany. After returning to New Zealand, he worked at PeterHaythornthwaiteDesign before establishing Designz Limited. Designz Limited is a product and graphic design consultancy, which takes pride in a history of satisfied clients, with a diverse portfolio of successful products and company identities. Completed projects range from managing a project from initial research through to final production, to successfully providing professional design expertise to complement clients in-house resources and working as part of their team. Clients include: Tru Test, Carter Holt Harvey, Robinson Industries, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, New Zealand Dairy Board, Englefield (Kholer NZ), fumacare, fumapest, AeroQual, Damba Furniture, Prism Software, Zetec, Darbi Accessories, and Plastic Industries. Most recently Designz Limited received a Gold Award in the Personal Care section of The New Zealand Plastics Industry Design Awards 2004.
