Meet the new Fellow, Life and Honorary members

Joy Were FDINZ

Peter Bromhead FDINZ

Peter Bromhead has a considerable history as a furniture designer, interior designer, contract furniture supplier, cartoonist, children's book writer /illustrator and film animator. He was awarded in the 2000 New Zealand Honours List and was awarded The Prince Hendrik Medal of Honour for his services to Danish Design in 2001. He has won 7 Qantas Media Awards. He is currently a Director of Bromhead Design, Graphenzo Publishing and Wooden Spoon Productions. He cartoons daily for The Dominion Post, The Marl Express and weekly for The Sunday Star Times and writes for The New Zealand Business Herald, Urbis and Simply You Magazines. In the recent 2006 Toronto Film Festival four of his Doodlebug animated cartoons were finalists. He is currently working on a number of design projects both locally and internationally. He represents Knoll International, USM, Magnus Olesen, PP Mobler and Louis Poulsen in New Zealand.

Rob Cox FDINZ

Rob CoxRob trained in Interior Design in London in 1975, and established a full time consultancy in Auckland which operated from 1979 to 1989. He then lectured in Interior Design at Unitec from 1989 to 2006. He continues his private client practice, now specialising in Residential work, providing design services in the areas of indoor and outdoor planning, colour, lighting, materials and style.

Ray Labone FDINZ

Ray LaboneRay trained as a graphic designer but in most of his recent career has focused on brand positioning and brand identity development. He was co-founder, managing partner and later Chairman of Designworks Group, the Australasian brand identity consultancy. Ray has advised many of New Zealand's largest corporates on brand positioning.

In 2002/3 Ray chaired the NZ Govt. Design Taskforce, that was formed under GIF, to develop a strategy for employing design for economic advantage. Currently he is entirely focused on carrying out design assessments and mentoring under the Better by Design programme.

He was a past Vice President of DINZ and has a strong belief in its role in gaining public and business recognition for design as a profession and in developing the standards and capabilities of design practitioners.

Leanne Beard FDINZ and Vice President DINZ.

Leanne BeardLeanne has always strongly supported the Design Industry in New Zealand for over twenty years from the early days of the Industrial Design Society to the present day DINZ.

Leanne's commitment to the growth and professional development and recognition of the design profession in New Zealand is paramount in her contribution to the industry. Leanne has previously served on Council actively contributing to the growth and advancement of the membership. Leanne is and has been active in the CPD initiatives facilitating the spatial sector rumbles and representing DINZ with the Ministry of Economic Development in the formation of the Licenced Building Practitioners (LBP) Scheme. As a result the LBP committee was formed to ensure spatial designers were adequately represented at Government level to which Leanne has been a significant contributor on behalf of DINZ.

Leanne has represented DINZ in the Building Code Review panel and has been involved in the New Zealand Green Building Council workshops and seminars. Leanne has been a Judge for the Best Design Awards and the IES Lighting Design Awards.
